Varsity Girls Playoffs Finished, April 29, 2016

In stormy weather and under threat from lightning, the Varsity Girls had their run in the playoffs ended with a disappointing 2-3 loss to ACA.

Claire Mills scored the first Knights goal with a corner assist from Megan Stembridge.  The second goal was scored by Ale Vazquez with an assist from Claire Mills ending the half 2-2.

ACA sored first in the second half and, due to bad weather, the game was called with almost 11 minutes left on the clock in the second half.

Rules require a 30-minute wait after the last visible flash of lightning and the lightning never cleared up.  Rules from the AHSAA state: In the event a game must be suspended because of conditions which make it impossible to continue play, the head referee shall declare it an official game if one complete half or more of the game has been played.  Since more than half the game had been played, the game ended with a final score of 2-3 ACA.

Regardless of the outcome, the Lady Knights, and all Catholic Knights, should be proud of their accomplishment in making it to the state playoffs.
